Frequently Asked Questions

FAQS

  • My practice is grounded in Insight-Oriented Therapy, Depth Psychology, and the Science of Connection. Unlike behavioral approaches that focus only on surface symptoms, I utilize Psychoanalytic Theory to explore the unconscious patterns and historical roots of your current distress. By understanding the "why" behind your thoughts and behaviors, we create the clarity needed for long-term psychological growth rather than temporary relief. Check out my therapy overview page for more in-depth videos and resources.

  • I specialize in Multicultural Therapy, with a primary clinical focus on the LGBTQ+ community, Communities of Color, and Asian+American individuals. I understand that identity isn't a side issue—it is the lens through which you experience the world. My expertise lies in navigating the intersections of cultural heritage, queer identity, and the "fractured" feeling that arises when balancing competing societal or familial expectations.

  • Consistency is the foundation of the Science of Connection. Because we are engaging in depth-oriented work, I typically meet with clients once a week. The duration of therapy varies: some find resolution for specific life transitions in 3–6 months. However, many choose to stay longer to engage in deeper identity development. Typically, people stay with me for at least a year, though I have had people stay with me for much longer, much like you would want to preserve an important relationship in your life. Of course, the decision is ultimately always up to you and in your hands!

  • Sessions are an active, collaborative exploration. Using an insight-oriented framework, we examine your internal world, your relationships, and the stories that shape your reality. I am not a "blank slate" therapist; I am an engaged clinician who offers direct feedback and professional insight to help you deconstruct the barriers that keep you stuck in survival mode.

  • Clinical training is essential, but healing ultimately happens in the space between us. I’m a well-qualified clinician, but I’m also a person who is warm, easy to talk to, and not afraid to use a little humor. I bring an intuitive, "right-brain" approach to our sessions—focusing on how we feel in the shared space together. If you’re looking for a therapist who feels as relatable as a friend but has the specific clinical language to navigate the deep, complex things people often avoid, we’ll likely be a great match. I offer a free consultation so we can see if that connection feels right from the start.

  • Professional transparency is a core part of my practice. My fees are as follows:

    • Individual Therapy Session: $200 (45 minutes), $225 (60 minutes)

    • Initial Biopsychosocial Assessment: $275 (60-90 min)

    • Community Support:Sliding Scale: Limited number of sliding scale offered, depending on financial need, with priority given to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color/LGBTQ+ communities. Happy to discuss a reasonable/affordable rate for both of us.

    • Insurance: I am currently an in-network provider for a few major panels, including United Healthcare and Aetna. Because every plan is different, please reach out to me directly so we can verify your specific coverage and discuss how to move forward.
